11 cops disciplined for ‘bad choices’
oston Police Commissioner Edward Davis announced this afternoon that 11 otherwise stellar officers are being disciplined variously for past steroid abuse, failing to out fellow cops or hanging out at an illegal after-hours brothel in Hyde Park infamously called the Boom-Boom Room.
“Good cops, bad choices,” Superintendent Daniel Linsky told the Herald. “I think it’s fair to say the officers were extremely remorseful and wish they had made other choices years ago.”
Under pressure from federal and internal investigations into BPD bad apples, seven officers “admitted” using steroids in the past and will be on unpaid suspension anywhere from five to 80 days starting Monday.
They are:
• Detective Kenneth Gaines, 44, a 14-year veteran;
• Detective Joseph Marrero, 34, a 12-year veteran;
• officer Richard Medina, 36, a 11-year veteran;
