Basta Bar owner Nick Silvestro and Weymouth licensing officer Brian King reportedly reached an agreement to allow a local kids’ band to perform at the nightclub at 7 p.m. on June 24 if no alcohol is served during the performance.
“There would be no alcohol served,” Silvestro said on June 17.
King was unavailable for comment about the arrangement, but Capt James Mullin said that police believe a bar is not an appropriate place for kids to be present.
“There are church halls where the kids can play,” Mullin said. “They can perform at the Weymouth Teen Center, where they would be playing in front of other kids. In this town, we have adult entertainment and there is a separation.”
