Boston Strip Clubs: LESSONS LEARNED, PART 2: Brockton cracks down on city bill-paying after …

… Vasapollo, 67, of 42 Gifford St., Brockton, was arrested at his home on Sept. 11 on three felony charges of attempted extortion and one charge of federal program bribery. He pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court on Tuesday to three felony charges of extortion and one charge of federal program bribery.
The federal charge was lodged because the money Vasapollo misused came from a Community Development Block Grant, a federal  program.
Vasapollo, who had been out on unpaid sick leave at the time of his arrest, was fired after his indictment from his city job and now awaits sentencing in federal court on April 28.
Vasapollo took cash-filled envelopes, totaling more than $4,000, from the Norwood contractor during meetings  in parking lots, including one payment made outside the Foxy Lady strip club. The scheme dated back to at least 2007, according to federal officials and the indictment.
