Boston Adult Entertainment: Malden Man Arrested on Sex Trafficking Charges

Sunday, May 20th, 2012

A Malden man was arrested on charges he allegedly engaged in the sex trafficking of a minor across state lines in New York and New Jersey, court documents revealed Thursday.
Michael Gemma, 28, of Malden, faces two felony charges of alleged sex trafficking of children and transportation of a minor to engage in prostitution toward the later half of last September.
A grand jury indictment released Thursday alleges Gemma “recruited, enticed, harbored, transported, provided, maintained and obtained by any means a minor under the age of 18 years…and benefited financially from said venture.”
He has been remanded to the custody of US Marshals until a detention hearing Monday.

Boston Adult Entertainment: Donna Summer: Disco diva and rocker

Sunday, May 20th, 2012

In a way, I think one hears Summer confront her own commodification on her marvelous record “Bad Girls.” Although the music in the final, released version suggests otherwise, Summer isn’t celebrating prostitution on “Bad Girls.” Rather, she is confronting what she shares with those streetwalkers. “Now, you and me are just the same,” she sings.  And if Summer sounds unusually exuberant as she yells out to a john, “Hey, mista, have you got a dime?” perhaps it’s because Summer understood what it meant to be made into a commodity and reduced to a seductive whisper. Tellingly, in a television interview some years later, Summer noted that “Bad Girls” marked the moment when she stopped being an object and became a subject. Let’s hope that in her death she inspires more writing that fully acknowledges the intelligent subjecthood of this disco diva and kick-ass rock and roller.

Boston Adult Entertainment: RIP Hot Stuff: Donna Summer, the First Lady of Love

Sunday, May 20th, 2012

While her association with the disco scene of the late ’70s is well known (and might actually be the “go-to” Donna Summer reference) and that her title “the First Lady of Love” came to be, it is this period in Summer’s life that would cause her the most distress. With increasing appeal and success, the media interest in her took its toll on her relationship with Mühldorfer (who was eventually forced back to Germany) and most importantly on her.
Beginning with a whirlwind involving prescription medication addiction and the increasing competition of other musical genres vying for the spotlight and chart space, Summer’s sound took a slightly more aggressive turn with 1979’s Bad Girls. Conceptualized from the standpoint of a prostitute, Summer even appears dressed as an old school hooker on the cover. While the album art might seem cartoonish and dated, it is still (in my opinion) a pretty bold statement to this day. Immortalized for different reasons in the 1997 film, The Full Monty, “Hot Stuff” is still an awesome track and anybody who’s ever liked Pat Benatar and/or Joan Jett can’t deny this song’s place amongst them.

Boston Adult Entertainment: Court papers: Boom-Boom Room cop has job lined up as youth pastor

Court papers: Boom-Boom Room cop has job lined up as youth pastor
he notorious ex-cop behind a drug-ridden, after-hours brothel for Boston police in Hyde Park known as the “Boom-Boom Room” has a new job as a youth pastor waiting for him when he gets out of prison, Roberto “Kiko” Pulido and his church have told a federal judge.
But the former special operations motorcycle cop, who blew a 10-year career with the Boston Police Department, won’t be getting out as soon as he’d hoped. U.S. District Court Judge William G. Young today denied the divorced father of six’ request to be freed on bail while the appeal of his sentence is pending. Young has not yet filed a memorandum explaining in his decision.
Pulido, 47, who reported to Young he is engaged to marry the owner of a hair salon, is just four years into a 26-year sentence he received in 2008 after pleading guilty to providing protection for a shipment of cocaine coming into Massachusetts. The shipment turned out to be a sting operation.

Boston Adult Entertainment: The day disco died: Donna Summer succumbs to cancer

Sunday, May 20th, 2012

Alas, today truly is the day that disco died.
American singer Donna Summer, called the Queen of Disco, has died at the age of 63 after a battle with cancer, according to news reports.
Born as LaDonna Adrian Gaines in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1948, the five-time Grammy winner first rose to fame after moving to Europe and working with Italian producer Giorgio Moroder.
Her first U.S. single was “Love to Love You Baby” in 1975.
The 16-minute extended version of the song featured Summer simulating orgasmic groans and moans. She developed a sexualized image (she became nicknamed the “First Lady of Love”) that she both utilized (such as on the prostitution-themed Bad Girls album) and struggled to break free of later in her career.
She had a string of hits during the 1970s with numerous disco-era classics, including “I Feel Love” and “Last Dance”. Her disco cover version of Jimmy Webb’s “MacArthur Park” was her first U.S. number one single.

Boston Adult Entertainment: 5 Things You Need to Know Today: Tuesday, May 15

Sunday, May 20th, 2012

3. Reader Comment of the Day: “I suppose you could fine local Hotel/Motels… for every drug offense that takes place on the property that ends in an arrest, oh I dont know… say $5000.00 per incident? Every attempted murder or battery, ah, say, maybe $10,000 per incident… It works when it comes to serving minors, and incidents at places that have licences to serve alcohol. Every now and again a Liquor license is suspended, revoked etc….. I believe there is such a thing as a Inn Holders’ License. Im not a big fan of “Big Brother”either , but I’m also not a fan of miscreants who stay in hotels in lieu of a residence on my dime and most likely use more taxpayer funds to purchase drugs, prostitutes.. etc, again…on my dime and then end up in the local news arrest log. nobody asked….just my opinion.” Reader Michael Adams, commenting on the story, “Attempted Murder Charge, Another Dog Attack Highlight Police Log.”

Boston Adult Entertainment: Dating site for married couples names top Boston neighborhoods for cheaters

Sunday, May 20th, 2012

Thats bound to end badly, said Biderman, whose site has faced criticism for encouraging adultery. But Biderman said he only facilitates extramarital affairs in a community where everyone knows what they’re getting, and some residents appear to have taken to it.
Boston has been one of the sites top cities since it launched in the U.S. in 2007, said Biderman.
Earlier this year, as USA Today first reported, Boston was ranked seventh on the list of top U.S. cities that use the site based on membership as a percentage of city population.
Biderman did not have a definite reason for his sites popularity in Boston, but speculated it might have to do with a changing culture that once allowed men to frequent the citys adult entertainment district, known as the Combat Zone.

Boston Adult Entertainment: FBI Uses Intelligence Based Model to Dismantle Boston Mafia

Sunday, May 20th, 2012

The indictment against Dinunzio, 53, describes how Dinunzio and his organization extorted money from adult entertainment businesses in Rhode Island, using “fear and intimidation to control the corrupt activities of his criminal enterprise.”
What makes the arrest so significant is the fact that it included information from inside sources. Up until this year, the New England organized crime family of La Cosa Nostra (NELCN) has enjoyed a solid “code of silence” that maintained the security and protection of the entire organization for years.

Up until this year, the LCN benefited from tight security and silence within the crime family. The entire family amassed a fortune through its enterprise that included extracting payments from $2,000 to $6,000 from adult entertainment businesses throughout Rhode Island. The family also conducted its criminal enterprise across state borders, including New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

Boston Strip Clubs: Mass. Senate leaders unveil $32.3B spending plan

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

… We’re Massachusetts and we don’t kick the can down the road, and we address issues as they come,” Brewer said, contrasting the state with California, which is facing an estimated $16 billion deficit.
Like the House, the Senate’s proposed budget seeks a crackdown on alleged misuse of Electronic Benefit Transfer cards by welfare recipients, but takes a different approach.
The Senate would appropriate $750,000 for a new public benefit fraud unit in the state police. The unit would probe suspected cases in which welfare or food stamp benefits were being misused.
The Senate budget bill would also add tattoo parlors, strip clubs and gambling to the list of banned EBT purchases, but it does not include many of the other restrictions that were included in a House budget amendment, including cosmetics.

Boston Strip Clubs: Mass. Senate takes different tack on EBT cards

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

BOSTON
State Senate leaders are calling for a crackdown on misuse of Electronic Welfare Benefit cards in Massachusetts, but are taking a different approach than the House.
A proposed state budget unveiled Wednesday by the Senate Ways and Means Committee would spend $750,000 to create a new state police unit responsible for investigating benefits fraud in Massachusetts. It would also for the first time impose criminal penalties on people who sell or transfer their food stamp benefits.
The budget would ban welfare recipients from using EBT cards for tattoo parlors, strip clubs, gambling or to post bail. The House budget includes a much lengthier list of banned EBT purchases, including cosmetics, jewelry, travel services, health clubs and firearms.
It’s currently illegal to purchase alcohol, tobacco or lottery tickets with EBT cards.
