Boston Massage Parlors: Business boom hits Bridgewater

Wednesday, February 20th, 2013

It’s Bridgewater’s turn to boom. That’s how the Bridgewater Business Association explains it anyway. The town is looking at a rare burst in business activity in the coming weeks and months as at least five new businesses set up shop around town. “There’s a lot of stuff cooking,” said Mike White, the town’s building inspector, who called the phenomenon an “unusual uptick.” “It doesn’t make sense for the winter time,” he said, adding that typically, businesses ignite in the spring or summer. New businesses that have already pulled permits for construction include a new self-serve frozen yogurt shop to open in Central Square, a massage parlor to open in the south end of Campus Plaza, a Thai restaurant staged to take over the old Friendly’s on Broad Street and a new alcohol distribution center and diesel gas station set to move in to the industrial park at Scotland Boulevard. Boston Massage Parlors: Underground Trade, Part One: Hiding in Plain Sight

Friday, February 8th, 2013

On a warm October night last year, the small, affluent town of Wellesley, Mass., has better things to think about than human trafficking: the farmer’s market, a support group at the congregational church, or a Wellesley Historical Society lecture on the War of 1812. But on this night, Wellesley went from a town renowned for its colleges and highly educated residents to a place where cops busted an alleged prostitution ring that operated out of a massage parlor.
“We were wicked surprised,” said one resident. “You wouldn’t think you’d see that in Wellesley. The “masseuses,” according to police, came into the area from New York. Though it ranks as one of the best places to live in America, Wellesley now has a small business shut down by joint local, state and federal law enforcement officials. The crackdown busted the stereotype that pros …

Saturday, February 2nd, 2013

A masseuse at Blue Sky Spa in Arlington Center was recently arrested and charged with “sexual conduct for a fee,” according to Arlington Police Capt. Richard Flynn.
Yan Fang Dong, a 38-year-old from Pennsylvania, was arrested at about 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, after Arlington police conducted a compliance check at the massage parlor, Flynn said. She was arraigned Friday, Feb. 1, in Cambridge District Court, he said.
Other than the charge itself, no details about the alleged incident were available Friday as the investigation is ongoing, Flynn said. In addition to the charge against Dong, the parlor could face disciplinary action from the town, he said.
Blue Sky Spa is at 677 Mass. Ave. in Arlington Center, across the street from the Robbins Library.
